84 Lumber Donation Helps Wounded Veteran

Haymarket, VA — 84 Lumber, the nation’s leading privately held building materials and services supplier, has continued its support of the United States military and Homes for Our 84 LumberTroops with the donation of $30,000 worth of home building materials for Marine Sergeant Marcus Dandrea.

On Saturday, July 9th, Sergeant Dandrea officially received the keys to his newly completed home in Haymarket, Va. The home has been provided by Homes for Our Troops, a nonprofit organization that builds mortgage-free, specially adapted homes nationwide for severely injured Veterans Post 9-11, to enable them to rebuild their lives. This new barrier-free home is customized to meet the needs of Sergeant Dandrea and his family.

Marine Sergeant Marcus Dandrea lost both of his legs on February 24, 2011 in an IED blast during his second deployment in Sangin, Afghanistan. The injuries were so severe that both of his legs required amputations above the knee.

“At 84 Lumber, we have always supported our nation’s armed forces and those who give back to protect our country, like Marine Sergeant Marcus Dandrea,” said Maggie Hardy Magerko, President and Owner, 84 Lumber Company. “We hope that Marcus’ new home will provide him with comfort and will help him rebuild his life in the spirit of Homes for Our Troops’ mission.”
