JONESBORO, Ark. — Steve Debber has joined home improvement retailer E.C. Barton & Company as Merchandising Manager.
Debber will work with the Purchasing, Marketing and Operations teams to develop, administer and implement a merchandising action plan for all retail locations. This includes assisting in the sourcing and supply of products, working with E.C.B. Brokerage to grow its customer base and further develop its strategy. Debber will also work on other special projects to facilitate company growth.
Debber has decades of retail experience, being born into a family-owned business that sold western wear and other items through retail and catalog sales. He spent 34 years with Sears, starting as a store trainee after college and holding roles such as visual implementation/compliance, merchandise manager and vice president of store operations. He also spent five years at Big Five Sporting Goods and another five years at Mile High Stadium and Denver Arena.
Debber is originally from Denver and graduated from Mesa State University where he studied business management, marketing and administration.
Founded in 1885 at a grocery store, E.C. Barton & Company now spans 17 states from New York to Texas and has 102 stores. The company operates as Barton’s Lumber in eleven stores located in Arkansas and Missouri; 54 Surplus Warehouse locations from Texas to North Carolina and 37 Grossman’s Bargain Outlet locations in New England and Ohio.
