LP Building Solutions joined with Military Makeover show to transform veterans’ home

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — LP Building Solutions recently collaborated with Military Makeover donating LP SmartSide ExpertFinish Trim & Siding to transform the home of a veteran family.

For their services, Luke Harvey received a Purple Heart and Natasha Woodruff received the Women of Courage award by the Pentagon, with Harvey serving as an infantryman and Woodruff serving as a geospatial engineer in the U.S. Army. After medically retiring in 2014, they settled into a house by a lake with their children in Lincolnton, North Carolina. In addition to their military background, they were selected for Military Makeover because their home was long overdue for a renovation.

Being close to a lake, LP SmartSide ExpertFinish Trim & Siding in Snowscape White was selected to replace the original siding due to its aesthetic, durability, and moisture resistance, LP said in a press release. Because it is prefinished it also allowed for a more efficient jobsite, eliminating the need to paint the home’s exterior after installation.

“The home previously had old, worn vinyl siding that was in serious need of a facelift. With LP SmartSide ExpertFinish Trim & Siding, the home’s exterior was immediately elevated,” says Chemeka Wachtler, LP Building Solutions marketing communications manager. “The durability of LP SmartSide products also gives us confidence that it will stand the test of time for the family.”

Jennifer Bertrand, AKBD-certified designer of the home, agrees, saying, “They [the homeowners] needed peace of mind and easy maintenance. Moisture resistance was also very important when it came to the exterior of the home. It’s about beauty and durability—all qualities you get when you go with LP SmartSide products.”

This season of Military Makeover for the Harvey-Woodruff family’s story airs on Lifetime Television and American Forces Network.

Earlier this year, US LBM was featured on the show’s career-focused episode, called Military Makeover Operation Career.
