NLBMDA releases National Policy Agenda for 2018

Washington — The National Lumber and Building Material Dealers Association (NLBMDA) has released its national legislative and regulatory policy agenda for 2018. The document brings focus to the common interests of the lumber and building industry and includes public policy goals for the continued success and growth of the nation’s housing and building sector.

“Lumber and building material dealers are part of America’s building supply chain and remain committed to the continued strength of residential remodeling and construction,” said NLBMDA Chair Rick Lierz, President and CEO of Franklin Building Supply in Boise, Idaho. “The 2018 NLBMDA National Policy Agenda lays out a broad set of principles that reduces frivolous lawsuits, eases regulatory burdens, and preserves the value of home ownership.”

NLBMDA is working with Congress and the Trump Administration to advance common-sense policies that will support small businesses and help the many multi-generational family-owned businesses in the lumber and building material industry. The National Policy Agenda includes positions on the following: housing & construction; tax & economic policy; legal reform & consumer protection; workforce policy; environment, health, & safety; product supply & trade; energy; transportation; and highway safety.

NLBMDA’s 2018 National Policy Agenda will be distributed to members of Congress and key Administration officials and will be used by NLBMDA members when they visit their members of Congress during the NLBMDA   Spring Meeting and Legislative Conference  on March 19-21 in Washington, D.C.
