Vancouver, Wash. —  Tum-A-Lum Lumber, a three-store chain of retail building material centers in Oregon, announced today they have reached an agreement in principle to acquire Marson and Marson Lumber Inc. in Leavenworth, Wenatchee, Chelan and Cle Elum, Wash.

After a transition period, Marson and Marson will begin operations as part of the Tum-A-Lum family of companies on January 3, 2017.

“This acquisition is the first step in Tum-A-Lum’s growth strategy,” said M. David Dittmer, CEO of Tum-A-Lum. “Marson and Marson is the top supplier of building materials in the market area they serve. Because of their very strong brand recognition, they will continue to operate under the name of Marson and Marson. The communities Marson and Marson operate in are very similar to the Tum-A-Lum markets. Marson and Marson is a great fit for our organization,” added Dittmer.

In addition to their building material centers, Marson and Marson also operates a truss plant, design center and a drywall distribution facility. Marson and Marson is strategically located in the North Central region of Washington. “We are anxious to expand our footprint into these growing markets,” said Dittmer.

Marson and Marson was founded in 1955 by Gordon and Marydell Marson and Kenneth and Marie Marson. President Ken Marson, Jr. is currently leading the company.

“Marson and Marson was founded on the same basic business values as Tum-A-Lum – building honest, fair and ethical relationships with our customers” said Ken Marson. Marson and Marson, like Tum-A-Lum, operates full-service lumberyards, serving the professional builder as well as the retail customer.

“We are very excited to join forces with Marson and Marson,” said Dittmer. “Marson and Marson has a strong, experienced employee group. Their years of experience in our industry make their locations the place to go for building solutions.”

Tum-A-Lum Lumber, a member of the LBM Century Club, was founded in 1906 by J.M. Crawford and is a fourth generation family owned building material supply company.
